President’s Welcome
Dear Colleagues,
It is such a privilege to serve as President of the Texas Association of Community College Student Affairs Administrators. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to work alongside each of you—colleagues who care deeply about students, about our institutions, and about the impact we make every day.
My professional journey has always been rooted in a passion for community colleges and the students we serve. Whether working in student affairs, teaching in the classroom, or leading faculty & staff development efforts, I have been continually inspired by the resilience, potential, and diversity of our students. In my role as Dean of Student Affairs at Austin Community College, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with incredible teams focused on improving access, supporting student success, and closing equity gaps—and that work continues to shape how I approach leadership.
What I value most about this association is the sense of connection and shared purpose. We all come from different colleges and roles, but we are united by a commitment to helping students navigate their paths and achieve their goals. This organization has always been a place where we can learn from one another, share ideas, and support each other through the challenges and opportunities of our work.
I am especially excited to continue building on that sense of community. I hope to create spaces where we can connect more intentionally, learn from each other’s experiences, and grow together as leaders. Professional development, collaboration, and equity-centered practices will remain at the heart of what we do together.
I also want to acknowledge how demanding our work can be. Student affairs professionals are often the first point of contact, the steady support, and sometimes the safety net for our students. The work is complex and, at times, challenging—but it is also incredibly meaningful. I see this association as a place where we can recharge, be inspired, and remind ourselves why we do this work.
Thank you for all that you do—for your leadership, your compassion, and your dedication to students across Texas. I am honored to serve in this role and truly look forward to the year ahead with all of you. I also want to thank our Executive Committee for their hard work and dedication this past year. They have done a wonderful job leading our association and I am so lucky to work alongside such amazing leaders.
