President’s Welcome
I hope you all are enjoying the “New Normal” year. It certainly has been challenging and exciting to envision new and innovative ways of serving our students and meeting the ever-expanding needs of students who have been working remotely for more than a year due to COVID. Welcoming them back to campus is truly exciting.
I have almost made it through my first full year as TACCSAA President and am thankful for the wonderful board I am honored and proud to work with. Your TACCSAA Board of Directors include Ashlie Resendez, President-Elect; Dr. Rosemary Coffman, Vice President of Finance; Dr. Edrel Stoneham, Vice President of Membership and Communication; Katrina Ricks, Secretary (pending) and Dr. Mike Jenkins, Past-President. Your officers have worked tirelessly to ensure this community of professionals remains strong, vibrant, informed, and connected.
We have begun our quarterly Virtual Discussions with all of you. Thus far we have had conversations related to enrollment, where we shared strategies to increase enrollment despite the nation-wide decline in community college enrollment. We also have had discussions on the increasing mental health issues facing our students and staff, as well as addressing dual credit questions and challenges and utilizing data to be more efficient and effective in advising. We are so pleased with the attendance and interaction at these events and plan to continue them with relevant/timely topics to help navigate the complexity of Student Affairs administrator’s jobs!
The work we do every day is life changing for our students and TACCSAA is committed to provide you with the resources and networking opportunities to enhance your daily work and find support along the way. We had a great virtual conference in April 2021 that allowed us to collaborate and learn more about diversity and equity in our work as community college administrators as well as legislative updates that will influence our efforts in the upcoming year. We are anxious for the TACCSAA 2022 conference to be held in late March.
TACCSAA has a great year planned and we look forward to enjoying it with you!
Respectfully,
Kris Kimbark
TACCSAA President 2021-2023
